Silent: Tombstones 2021, Pencil on paper, by Wilton Wai Ting Choi

Silent: Tombstones

Take care, dear traveler, as you pass by,
Read these ancient runes, let their secrets fly.
For in this sacred ground, we learn to cope,
Where tombstones guard memories, hope, and hope.

And what of love? It lingers like mist,
A haunting melody, a bittersweet twist.
Once, she was your muse, your heart’s refrain,
A chapter closed, yet echoes remain.

Her laughter dances through forgotten halls,
A ghostly touch upon your heart’s walls.
You remember the good—the stolen kisses,
The promises whispered, the moon’s sweet wishes.

But love, my friend, is both light and shade,
A dance of joy and sorrow, memories made.
So take care, as you tread this path alone,
Among tombstones and love’s weathered stone.

May you find solace among the whispers,
And may your heart heal, as time delivers.
For love endures, even when it’s past,
A silent farewell, a love that will last.
